Is Santa too fat?
December 10, 2007
In honor of the holiday season, Reuters tells us about a new campaign to deal with Santa’s unseemly weight. The campaign comes from a public relations firm, which must be getting into the holiday spirit. It is to “keep Santa fat.” Enjoy!

Oh, please! Does anybody really think little kids go around saying, “I want to be fat just like Santa”?
For that matter, with the social stigma around fat - the teasing of other kids, getting picked last for the team, nagging by parents and/or doctors, lecturing in the schools - does anybody think kids say, “I want to be fat,” period?

Santa’s fat doesn’t pose the same health risks for him as it would in the general population–for a couple of reasons: 1. He’s presumably immortal and 2. He lives at the North Pole, where the fat helps insulate him from the devastating effects of exposure.
Children will hopefully not be impressed to become overweight any more than they will be impressed to move to the North Pole, so it’s sort of a draw…
What is more confusing is the business of getting down chimneys…Now that is a dangerous behavior to emulate!

Fat Santas are one thing, Fat Santas sellling Coke with images of happiness is another. Watching the ad of a fat Santa with cheeks so pink he looks that he’s been drunk, marketing Coke at the movie is such a torture to me when going to the movies
