Physical activity is good for you!
June 21, 2008
The Department of Health and Human Services has just released the report of a committee that has just spent the last two years reviewing research on the benefits and risks of physical activity for specific population groups. Guess what? It’s good for you! And to summarize all that research: some is better than none, more is better than less, higher intensity is better than lower intensity. The “some is better than none” part should be an inspiration to everyone to get out there and start moving.

Did the report say that physical activity was useful for reducing obesity?

I’m always puzzled by such reports. Of course physical activity is good for you. Eating well is good for you too. Both of them can have an amazing impact on your body and lead to an optimal performing brain(the maxim is all organs function best when acquiring the proper nutrition and with physical fitness(especially cardio-vascular: helps with blood flow, etc.)). Yet these reports constantly come out as if they constitue some kind of seminal work! It’s a bit like someone proving 2 + 2 = 4 ad infinitum.
