Pizza!

August 6, 2008

I figure I might as well have some fun with my new column in the San Francisco Chronicle. The column is a Q and A, and the first sets of Qs came from the editors. This one is about pizza, things. They tell me the next questions will come from readers, and the plan is to run the column once a month.

  1. Ah…if they could all be Cheese Board pizzas.

I’d love to see a photo of the 1-pound slice. Any idea where it was from? It seems like there’s a bit of an arms race happening in NY with pizza slice sizes.

One other trend that I find disturbing from a nutritional standpoint is the new fad of dessert pizzas. I can’t imagine those are too healthy.

Good luck on the new column–I’ll be following along.

  2. I love pizza and have just started experimenting with making my own (I buy the crusts and add the olive oil, sauce and veggies).

I look forward to reading future articles.

  3. Nice article on a food that most Americans like to eat, but perhaps don’t know how to make or eat in healthier choices.
I hope your article inspired some people to try the delicious healthier versions of pizza.

  4. […] must be my week for being asked about snack foods. The San Francisco Chronicle (see previous post) wanted to know about pizza? Eating Liberally wants to know about popcorn. Same question, same […]

  5. Love Amy’s spinach pizza which comes in an individual size (and even a large one adds up to under 1000 calories). Organic spinach and tomatoes and tasty!
Also love Amish Country blends of non-GMO popping corn, especially the rainbow blend. Pop it in a Whirley Stove Top with a little olive oil and sea salt.
It takes some research to find healthy ways to eat yummy foods!
Discarded the microwave four years ago…a great decision!

  6. Have you heard of 479* Popcorn? I just discovered this new product through Chowhound and Table Hopper. It’s an artisan, organic popcorn company based here in San Francisco.

They have flavors like Black Truffle, Pimenton, Vietnamese Cinnamon…

now, that’s what I call real foodie’s popcorn!
